Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the sages of Ragnar's band of Viking brothers and his family, as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods, legend has it that he was a direct descendent of Odin, the god of war and warriors.

Only seen two episodes but I’ve enjoyed it so far.
  • This season so far lacks the point...

I watched two episodes and trailer, which left me wondering about the direction that Vikings took at the end of series. First and obvious question is Kievan Rus and Oleg. Projected to be new major foe of team Bjorn, he was never historically interested in Scandinavia. He and his ancestors moved South from it to discover new fertile land where the settled and mixed with friedly locals who suffered from nomads and welcomed warlike Vikings as salvation. Going back North was never an issue until times of Peter the Great and Baltic sea access. So hearing Oleg talking to Ivar about going West, when, in fact, it is going North sounds simply dumb from any perspective. Second grief with the start of the season is total loss of direction. England with the whole Viking settlement in South and invading force in North is forgotten? What about Frankia? Franks just lost a huge deal they had with Ivar and they do not try to make a new one with new and exausted regime for what reason? Rollo does not want to attack his favorite son? Brothers are in disarray too... Ubbe, who promised to kill Lagatha behaving as her son and looking to discover America, Hvitzek is a broken man, who for some reason does not search for Ivar, but drinks and rants... Bjorn essentially does nothing, he broods and he thinks and he complains. While Ivar ran from Kattegut in a most insane way... Look at the map what Silk Road is. To end up near Kiev, Ivar should have made a 2-3 years long circle... But why go back north if you run from it? Most devious of Vikings simply gave up, much like Hvitzerk. I love Vikings. But this season, much like battle for Kattegut is not logical. Characters are tired and aimless. There is no glory or adventure here - just desire for it all to end.
